SNL: Real News?

Okay so I admit I used to watch SNL, back in the day. Meaning when Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon did weekend update, the only good part of the show. Then I went off to college and Jimmy left, followed by Fey. Now five years later Fey is still appearing to try to get us to laugh. Now my few of my friends know I'm a political junkie, and even less know I'm right-winged. But one of those that do posted on my facebook page asking me if I was "offended by what [they're] doing." Now I haven't seen the skits, I really have no need to. Fey, not that funny, and SNL very offensive in general. But it got me thinking. Is this the news we should be following? Is SNL, the Daily show etc., really the kind of programing where we should get our news? I say no. Heck, my TV has been broken for weeks and haven't seen anything other then grainy videos online from various sources. But even before that I didn't watch these pseudo-news sources for my information. I read a paper, somethings, watched real news like FOX News and local channels, read blogs, my rss files, online magazines, and surfed newspaper websites. This is where news comes from, not some late night crappy show that claims to be funny, when it's not. People, read and watch real news, because this is where the facts are, and where the learning of all types of knowledge happens. Because spelling is important, and so is using the right word.
